Giles v. LCC (1903) 68 JP 10

A man lost his eye in an accident which occurred at a cricket ground whilst he was playing cricket. The ground where he was playing was surrounded by around 100 other cricket pitches. There was iron structure, provided by the council to indicate the number of the cricket pitch, the man ran upon the structure and whilst doing so lost his eye. It was held that the council were not liable because the man was deemed to be wholly responsible for his injury given that he was an adult and had chosen to run upon the structure for the purposes of recreation when there was a clear and obvious danger.
