Introduction to English Law
English law has two main sources, common law and statutes law. Common law is law that has developed as a result of judgments given by the highest courts. Arguably more significant in forming today’s laws is statutes law. This originates as a bill and is passed by the legislature becoming an act of parliament. An act of parliament is only passed following debate by and consensus of parliament.
