Medical Law : Case
This area of law is concerned with the regulation of medical personnel in relation to their treatment of patients within their facilities. It looks to provide a means of effective redress where professional standards slip in terms of damages and compensation for issues of clinical negligence.
Moreover, it also has a close relationship with issues of morality regarding what is considered to be in the ‘best interests’ of patients where the patients’ beliefs contravene the use of such treatment and in matters where the patient seeks to stop treatment in relation to the concept of euthanasia (i.e. assisted suicide), as well as in relation to issues of medical science in terms of what is accepted as normal treatment within a body of medical opinion when advancements are made.
