Case - Re A (Children) Conjoined Twins: Medical Treatment) (No.1) [2000] 4 ALL ER 961

The facts of this case were based on the separation of conjoined twins (Jodie and Mary) and the problems with the fact that if they were separated Mary would die, but if they were not then Jodie would also die so that the court had to decide whether the right to life, recognised under the remit of the ECHR 1950, would be breached by their decision.

But in the end they made what they considered to be the moral choice by looking to save the stronger (Jodie) and allowing the weaker (Mary) to die.
